Whitetea - So Healthy!

whitetea

Whitetea - so very good for all of us!

Just like black and green teas, white tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. But the leaves are picked and harvested before they open fully, when the buds are still covered by fine white hair.

This is where the name originates. White tea is scarcer than the other traditional teas, and costs a little more generally.

Like green tea, white tea has been processed with very little oxidization. The fermentation process is the lightest of all. There is a noticeable difference in taste. Most green teas have a distinctive 'grassy' taste to them, but white tea has a lighter and sweeter taste.

What makes whitetea so special? It is all due to this very minimal fermentation process which allows the very potent polyphenols (antioxidants) to remain intact. Their ability to do good in our bodies are therefore greatly enhanced.

This is why white tea is being hailed as the "Supreme drink" of our times.

There are four main varieties of white tea: Silver Needle, White Peony, Long Life Eyebrow, and Tribute Eyebrow.

Note that green tea's level of antioxidants are very close to thoat of white tea. Both are excellent for your health!
