Tazo Black Tea
Tazo Black Tea
Tazo Teas makes a wide variety of black teas. Black tea comes from the same plant as does green and oolong tea. That is the Camellia Sinenesis. The variation is due to the way in which the different teas are processed.
During this fermentation process, the tea is oxidized. Green tea is sunbject to extremely little oxidization as it is lightly steamed, as opposed to black tea which undergoes a much lengthier fermentation process. As a result, the teas look and taste different.
Green tea is arguably healthier to drink than black tea because due to its light fermentation process, it retains the great strength of its antioxidants and polyphenols. These compounds are thought to scavenge free readicals that cause damage to tissue in the human body - sometimes leading to cancers.
Black tea, still high in antioxidants, is not as powerful in assisting good health as green tea, yet it is the world's most consumed beverage (after water)and is renowned for its health benefits worldwide.
