Making Iced Green Tea
Making iced green tea can be as simple or as complicated as you like!
The following methods are Twining's recipes for making iced teas. There are 2 basic methods for making iced tea.
The hot-water method
Follow the same steps you do for brewing hot tea except that you need to add 1 more spoon of tea leaves or one more tea bag to what you normally use for hot tea.
In a pitcher place a little sugar at the bottom and then fill it with ice.
Brew the hot tea and strain it over the ice which will melt, leaving half a pitcher of iced tea.
Top with cold water and refrigerate.
To serve iced tea, garnish with a slice of lemon or cucumber, or with a fresh mint leaf. Add ice if it is a hot day.
The cold-water method
Place desired quantities of loose leaves, or tea bags in a 2 quart jar. (This depends on how strong you like tea - use 9-12 tea bags, or 1 teaspoonful of loose tea).
Fill jug with fresh cold water
Cover or seal tightly
Keep in a cool place 6 hours to overnight and stir occasionally.
Strain
Can be stored in fridge for a couple of days.
If you use this method, the tea won't become cloudy. To serve, pour over ice cubes in tall glasses. Granish with cucumber, sprigs of mint or slices of lemon.
