One of the latest being discussed is the inclusion of green tea in your skin care program, used both internally and externally.

With the application of some underlying principles you can improve the tone, elasticity and revitalisation of your skin cells, old and new.

If you live in a climate that is harsh on the skin...high exposure to UV rays and sunburn, the use of green tea with its great healing properties will be especially beneficial to you.

Diet has long been recognised as being of utmost importance to our body's smooth and healthy functioning. "You are what you eat..." may be trite, but it is true.

Excessive sugar, alcohol and fatty foods will have adverse effects on your body.

Antioxidants need to be a part of your nutrition regime; these substances fight the adverse effects of free radical damage to your body.

Green tea has these compounds in great abundance, especially EGCG (epigallocatechin-gallate) which will do wonders for the revitalisation of your skin.

Research out of China has found that tea drinkers may have a younger 'biological' age than non tea drinkers.

Telomeres in the chromosomes of green tea drinkers are longer than those of non tea drinkers.

This difference corresponds to about 5 years of life. In this study of 976 Chinese men and 130 Chinese women, all over 65, only tea consumption was found to correlate to telomere length.

It is suggested that polyphenols, the potent antioxidants found in green tea, are responsible for the lower biological age.

"The antioxidative properties of tea and its constituent nutrients may protect telomeres from oxidative damage in the normal aging process," wrote the study's authors.
