Chai Tea Latte
Chai Tea Latte
What is 'chai tea latte'? The term 'chai' is synonymous with 'masala chai'. Numerous coffee houses use the term chai latte for their version to indicate that the steamed milk of a normal caffè latte is being flavored with a spiced tea concentrate instead of with espresso. Some coffee houses and brand names refer to their product as chai latte.
Here is a very simple chai tea recipe that you can easily make at home. It is unpretentious, yet really delicious!
Ingredients
Milk
Honey
Cinnamon
Black Tea (teabag)
Directions
Pour milk into glass of your choice. Add cinnamon to your liking. Heat milk until it is very hot and has a thin layer of foam at the top, like a latte.
Pour in a considerable amount of honey, and stir. The milk should still be hot, and now have a sweet taste to it.
Set teabag in until desired color and taste have been achieved- but don't leave the teabag in while you're drinking! It can overpower the sweet taste if it's there too long.
Enjoy your chai tea !
A handy tip...
If you decide to add flavored syrups, such as almond and vanilla- be careful that the syrup flavor doesn’t overpower the taste of the tea.
(Supermarkets now sell pre-mixed concentrates of masala chai to which you can add milk and heat in a kettle or the microwave).
